A historians' principle task is to understand human behaviour in the past and present; as well as, perhaps, to help see the options humans have for the future. It’s a vicious circle; as human beings themselves, historians need to understand how they create, reconstruct or fabricate the images of the past. We will never achieve all that's gone; yet the question is, how much and in what way something can be found and understood.


Also, the question for us is: what does it mean?
